We’ve invested £50,000 in new electric pallet pump trucks across our owned operations in Birmingham, London and Edinburgh. This move enhances our pallet delivery capability as volumes continue to grow, particularly within home and residential deliveries.
Improving safety and efficiency in pallet delivery
The new pallet trucks, supplied by SHS Handling Solutions, supports our drivers as they handle an increasing number of heavier pallet delivery movements, including tail-lift and kerbside deliveries. By upgrading and expanding our pump truck fleet, we’re improving safety, efficiency and reliability across our pallet delivery operations while maintaining high service standards for our customers.
Health and safety remains a core priority across our pallet delivery network. This investment has enabled us to replace older equipment and introduce additional units as our operations expand, ensuring more drivers have access to modern, reliable handling tools.
Residential pallet delivery can be physically demanding, especially in restricted or hard-to-access locations. Electric pump trucks play a vital role in supporting our drivers’ day-to-day work, helping to reduce fatigue and physical strain while improving accessibility at the point of delivery.
How do electric pump trucks work?
Electric pump trucks use a battery-powered motor to lift, lower and move pallets with minimal manual effort. The operator positions the forks beneath the pallet and uses simple controls to raise it off the ground, allowing the load to be moved safely and smoothly.
Unlike manual pump trucks, electric models reduce the physical force required to handle heavy pallets. This makes them particularly effective for pallet delivery tasks such as tail-lift, kerbside and residential deliveries, where space can be limited and loads may be heavier.
Built-in safety features, including controlled lifting, smooth acceleration and braking, help improve stability and reduce the risk of strain or injury. This allows drivers to carry out pallet deliveries more efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
