When we talk about kerbside pallet delivery at Palletways, we mean that your palletised goods will be dropped off at a safe, accessible point at the edge of your property, usually the kerb near your home or business. The following article will explain why our members operate on a kerbside delivery basis, and how you can prepare for your collection or delivery.
Why Kerbside Pallet Delivery?
- This method is ideal for residential deliveries where items are too large, heavy or bulky to manoeuvre beyond the property edge.
- It’s safer, both for our drivers and your goods, to deliver pallets to solid ground at kerbside, rather than attempting to move them over soft or uneven surfaces or into interiors.
- Health & safety standards prevent drivers from entering your property, stepping over fences or dropping goods inside buildings or gardens.
What to Expect During Delivery
- On arrival, the driver will choose the nearest feasible location to the delivery address, preferably on flat, stable ground.
- A pump-truck or similar handling equipment is used to slide the pallet from the lorry to the kerb.
- The driver will not unpack the pallet, carry individual items inside, or remove goods from the pallet once delivered.

To help make the delivery smooth and avoid problems:
- Ensure ground access is suitable
The drop-off point should be level, firm and firm enough to support the pallet and equipment. - Provide details in advance
Let us know about any restrictions, such as narrow roads, pedestrian-only zones, low bridges or tight turns. We can arrange smaller vehicles if needed. - Clear the area
Remove any obstacles (cars, barriers, debris) from the delivery spot to allow safe access. - Communicate special requirements
If you’ll need help moving the pallet off the kerb, carrying inside, or placing it in a particular location, contact us ahead of delivery. Our members will do their best to help you where possible. Extra services may incur an additional fee.
Health, Safety & Quality Assurance
- At Palletways, we require our drivers to carry out safety checks of the drop-off location before releasing the pallet.
- All deliveries conform to legal and industry safety guidelines to protect both our staff and your consignment.
