A Leicester-based logistics firm has become the latest company to join Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing palletised freight network.
Joining Palletways, The Widdowson Group, based in Glenfield, Leicester, will handle single pallet loads to large scale consignments and will cover the eastern LE postcodes in Leicestershire & Rutland. The company offers a complete logistics solution through its Warehousing, Contract Packing, E-Fulfilment, UK Transport, Freight Forwarding and Garage Services divisions and boasts a fleet of 120 vehicles and 200 trailers.
Paul Turner, Head of Sales at The Widdowson Group, said: “We are delighted to be a fully-fledged Palletways member and are excited with the opportunities that being part of Europe’s largest palletised freight network affords.”
Luis Zubialde, managing director for Palletways (UK) Ltd, added: “I am pleased to welcome Widdowson’s to the network. Demand for palletised freight services has risen rapidly over recent months as the global economy continues its recovery and I look forward to utilising Widdowson’s experience to grow our business even further across the East Midlands region.”
The Widdowson Group’s origins can be traced back to the early 1900's. From its humble beginnings as coal merchants the business evolved in the early 1960's into general haulage and continued to develop in transport alone until the mid 1980's, operating from a number of sites in Leicester relocating as the fleet expanded. The Group's venture into warehousing came in the mid 80's and it now operates facilities in excess of 550,000 square feet.
The Widdowson Group is one of over 100 members in the Palletways UK network – Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network. The company’s distribution networks are made up of independent transport companies who share each other’s resources to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before.
