LOCAL DISTRIBUTION COMPANY GETS 2009 OFF TO A PERFECT START
Local distribution company, Mike Garbutt Transport, based in Devizes, has got 2009 off to a perfect start after experiencing substantial growth in the volume of goods it distributes for its customers to and from mainland Europe.
Key to Mike Garbutt Transport’s success has been its membership of Palletways, the number one pallet network in Europe, which provides a range of express distribution services for small consignments of palletised freight across the UK and Europe. It has also recently invested in three new Mercedes Atego 16-tonne trucks, bringing the total number of vehicles in their Palletways fleet to 13.
Says Mike Garbutt, Principal at Mike Garbutt Transport: “Particularly in the current economic climate, we’re working really hard to develop and grow the company. Being part of the UK’s leading pallet network has enabled us to maximise market share locally and to open up new business opportunities by offering highly reliable and competitively priced deliveries to Europe for existing and new customers.”
European-bound goods are collected by Mike Garbutt Transport, one of over 100 Palletways Member companies - all independent transport companies with local knowledge and expertise. They are then transported to Palletways’ central hub facility in Lichfield where they are consolidated for onward distribution to mainland Europe via a daily cross channel service.
Craig Hibbert, Managing Director of Palletways UK Member Network, concludes: “We’re delighted with the fact that Mike Garbutt Transport is tapping into the European marketplace to drive further business growth. We’re the only company in the pallet network sector that can now offer a door-to-door distribution service between the UK and mainland Europe, thereby providing our members with a major differentiator in their local marketplaces.”
Palletways, which was set up in 1994, has 270 plus depots across the UK and mainland Europe and handles circa 21,000 pallets a day through nine hub facilities across Europe.
